By using local historical rainfall data and surface material qualities, we predict how much water needs to be collected and carried away on a roadway system. Engineers design inlet-pipe-ditch systems to efficiently remove water from the roadways and bridges.

These designs often include funneling water to an underground tank or a detention pond so the water can slowly enter the natural streams and rivers it ultimately drains to.
