Route 51 Over Castor River Overflow

Bridge Replacement

EFK Moen prepared bridge plans for the replacement of an existing four-span bridge carrying Route 51 over the Castor River Overflow.

The new bridge (A9091) is a 189-foot-long, three-span, prestressed concrete spread box beam structure. The bridge is set along a horizontal curve with a curved deck and straight beams. Integral end bents were utilized along with galvanized steel pile bents at the intermediate bents. The bridge was constructed as one of seventeen bridges in the Bootheel Bridge Bundle Design-Build project.
