Bridge Replacement
EFK Moen prepared bridge plans for the replacement of the existing NB and SB seven-span structures carrying I-55 over Route 61 near Cape Girardeau. The proposed bridges are four-span PPC I-girder structures. EFK Moen was selected for the design of the project with a tight two-month schedule for final plans.
The proposed bridges needed to be redesigned from the originally proposed two-span option, to a new four-span option to avoid areas of poor soil where the Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls had been proposed. EFK Moen successfully completed the new design within the original two-month schedule in order to deliver the project within the original letting schedule.
