Roadway Design
EFK Moen provided comprehensive roadway design services for the widening and reconstruction of Illinois Route 14 in Benton, Illinois, a major infrastructure improvement intended to enhance safety, efficiency, and long-term corridor functionality. The project focused on transforming an aging roadway into a modern facility, capable of supporting higher traffic volumes while improving the overall driving experience. Throughout the design process, our team worked in close coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation and local stakeholders to ensure the improvements aligned with regional transportation goals and community needs.
Key geometric improvements included widening the roadway to accommodate additional lanes, refining horizontal and vertical alignments, and reconfiguring intersections to improve sight distance, turning movements, and overall operational safety. These enhancements were carefully designed to meet current standards while allowing flexibility for future expansion. By accounting for anticipated traffic growth and adjacent development, the design supports long-term economic and community growth in the Benton area, delivering a roadway that is safer, more efficient, and positioned to serve the region well into the future.
