Desloge Roundabout

Roadway Design

EFK Moen provided roadway and intersection design services for the new roundabout at Route 8 in Desloge, Missouri, a key MoDOT improvement intended to enhance safety, mobility, and traffic operations at a historically congested intersection. The design replaced a traditional signalized intersection with a modern single‑lane roundabout to reduce conflict points, improve traffic flow, and lower the frequency and severity of crashes. EFK Moen worked closely with MoDOT and local stakeholders throughout the design process to design a roundabout that addressed community needs while meeting state and federal design standards.

The roundabout design required careful geometric planning to accommodate passenger vehicles, freight traffic, and emergency services, incorporating truck aprons, pedestrian considerations, and clear signing and pavement markings for intuitive operation. In addition to the roundabout, EFK Moen also designed the nearby Route 67 southbound over Route 8 bridge as part of MoDOT’s Bootheel Bridge Bundle, providing coordinated improvements that strengthened connectivity through the corridor. Together, these improvements deliver a safer, more efficient transportation network for the Desloge area while supporting long‑term mobility, regional access, and continued economic growth.
