City – Arch-River Project

August 2nd, 2013 – MODOT/US Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx/CityArchRiver – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx and U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell helped announced the $380 million CityArchRiver improvement project to the St. Louis Gateway Arch. EFK Moen designed MODOT’s I-70/Third Street interchange project which is one of several transportation projects included with this nationally significant project. Construction for portions of the project will start early August, 2013. Officials hope to complete the project by Oct. 28th, 2015.

U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell noted “What you’re doing here is a model for the nation,” and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay statements included, “We will give people a new reason to come back to our Arch, our city, our river, and enjoy it and stay longer when they’re here.” The nonprofit CityArchRiver Foundation has estimated the project could add 4,400 new permanent jobs for the region.

Linda Moen, P.E., P.J. Kronlage, P.E. and Robert Orange worked closely with the MODOT staff to expedite the I-70/Third Street interchange plans and insured the geometrics with this project were coordinated with adjacent transportation projects.  For additional information on this project or how EFK Moen could assist with other transportation projects, please contact Darrell Eilers.
